The Cradle of Wine
There is a door in every Georgian house, and behind it, 8,000 years.
Wine here is fermented and aged in Qvevri - enormous clay vessels buried to the neck beneath the cellar floor. Older than the pyramids, unbroken ever since, and still going on under a family kitchen tonight.

Georgian polyphony was among the first traditions UNESCO named a masterpiece of humanity’s intangible heritage. One of its songs is on the Voyager Golden Record. And the dances are just as singular: men on their toes, swords that spark.
